Zane has only 9 more working days till he graduates from the academy!
This has been such a challenge for us and it seems so unreal that we are just about to the finish line!It has brought us so much closer together and towards our goals. I love how, together, we can accomplish our goals. Its so much easier when you have support too.
I love my Zane.

Also on my side of the tracks, I am finally starting up a booth at a boutique selling purses and other creations I am making. I am setting this up tomorrow and will post pictures soon!

Zane is half way through the academy and is spending the week with LAFD in a town 3 hours away to learn more about putting out fires and more skills. I am so proud of him. He has been doing so good and we have grown so much as a couple. It is amazing how much more you learn about your other half and understand how much your other half completes you.
This fast Sunday was amazing. Although we did not attend all 3 hours, I think I was very spiritually satisfied. In all the time I have known Zane, I have never heard him bear his testimony and this last Sunday he surprised me by walking straight up to the stand. It was short and sweet and testified about the power of prayer. I was so happy to hear those words from him. Since we have been married its been hard to say our prayers together-I wanted him to be the one who says, "Let's pray," and not have it be me who is always nagging (not that i nag about it). Finally.... he understands how I feel about prayer. How it gets you through the tough and sweet times, how it calms you, and how it connects you to our Father. I have been patiently dreaming of this day for a long time. It makes me so happy to know that he feels the same way about prayer now. Praying has always been my support through all the trials I have gone through growing up. It not only has blessed me, but has blessed my family around me. I love prayer!

For life in LA:
I did my first craft fair with my friend Katie. I sold purses/totes, flowers, origami ornaments, and holiday blocks. I am going to try and find what I am good at and focus on it. It has been fun doing all these crafts and I can't wait to do another craft fair. It hasn't been snowing at all this December and I wish it would soon. I am ready for a white Christmas!

Tonight I am making salt clay ornaments! I needed something to do while Zane is away from me for a WEEK!

My forming new years resolution:
I want to learn Spanish. Get signed up for the nursing program in Santa Fe. Finish and complete amazing camera bags. Start a small business. Get in better shape. Learn how to dance and dance well. Keep a clean house. Make some more furniture. Make more friends. Go to Utah. Call my family more often. Help others more often. Take an art class or teach an art class. Paint a landscape scene or the sunset.Make money.Take pictures.Purchase a good camera. Learn how to use photoshop better. Work towards these goals.

Zane made it through a month of this crazy academy already. It's tough and hard on him, but I think he is finally seeing a light at the end of this crazy dark tunnel of hard labor. After anxiety in the morning, and terrible night sweats, I rearranged the furniture in the room and the bed so he can have "his spot" and it seems to be getting better. He has been sleeping better and not feeling so crappy in the morning, and best of all, the bed is not soaked in his sweat... nasty.

School has been kicking my butt. Two online biology courses and they are fast paced. I have to do my last midterm next week, and then I am half way through this! ya... don't know how I am going to cover the lymphatic through the rest of the body systems in the next 4 weeks, but I will do my best.

Got to love this weather and being up in the mountains. I have been hiking 4-5 times a week for 2 hours each in the mountains and its keeping me sane. Its good to get out of the house, to take a break from homework. The weekends bring us lots of wildlife to our backyard. we have seen so many deer in our backyard, sometimes 4-5 at a time looking for fruit and nuts that our neighbors leave for them.

Some days I watch too many design shows and have to rearrange my furniture, three times this month, and hang up pictures finally. And I also painted the white walls that badly needed a fresh coat of paint. I would like to tackle the upstairs bedrooms because anything leaves a mark on the walls and its just really old. Not a characteristic i like.

My friend Katie has been so nice to me. We hang out a few times a week or at least once to get out of los alamos to go to santa fe or espanola walmart! She is starting a boutique that I hope I can help her out with. Its in white rock, and she will be selling her stuff in a booth along with many other people in a store that is connected to a portrait studio. I hope it turns out good for her. Maybe I can try to make some extra money from that since I don't make any money right now.. Its been so weird not having a job, but I don't know how I would have the time to work with school and zanes academy. Those are jobs themselves. Being a housewife.... its a change. haha

This slow paced life has got us thinking more about kids. When to have them?? If things work out with the academy we might plan on having them sooner than later. Crazy... maybe we should get a dog first.... but we can't have a dog where we live now. bummer.

Fire Academy for Zane

Zane accomplished his first week of the Los Alamos Fire Academy.
...and that's putting it very simply.
The beginning of the week just consisted of rules, paperwork, and lots of listening to everyone else. Today he experienced the first part of the hard work. Lots of running, push ups, leg lifts, and drinking lots of water. One of the guys went to the hospital after their run, most likely dehydrated. They think that he won't make it through the academy, and he came all the way from Louisiana.

Let me tell you about their dress code. They are given four shirts, two shorts, two sweatpants, two sweaters, a cover(which is a hat with "LAFD") and gloves all in the beautiful color of navy blue! Each item must be clean, wrinkle free, as well as lint and thread free. Even the inside of the hat can't have loose threads in it. They were given vouchers to get some OSHA approved white running shoes. Zane had already purchased some the week before the academy started and so he just bought the same ones again. AND Zane's hair is the shortest I have ever cut it to! It is a military hair cut, and the instructors still say it's still to long. So this weekend it's going shorter! More work for me.

Now the rules. Can you say, "Yes, Sir, No, Sir or I admit I made a mistake"? Each cadet has to stand when the captain or firefighter instructors enter the room, and wait to be called to sit. They do the posting of the flag each morning too. Everyone has to be in uniform and at attention at 7am. Thumbs at the seams of their pants, elbows back.

This week was easy for them, it's just going to get harder from here on out.

As for me, I have just been doing my two biology courses online, which takes a lot of time. I also have been going on 2-3 hour hike/runs. It's been nice but lonely because I don't have anyone to hike with. I should be more careful about hiking on my own because a new friend said they just saw a bear this week! I had a play date with 2 nice girls from church, Katie and Morgan. Katie has a 3 year old girl, and Morgan has a 3 year old boy and 7 month old baby girl. Morgan did hair in Salt Lake, so I think I found my new hair dresser, as well as she found hers!

The weather is so nice here. We leave the doors and windows open. We have lots of moths though. We have a 3 bed 1 bath town home with a nice backyard, a porch, and deck, 2 big pine trees, green grass, and mountains all around us. We have seen quite a few deer in our backyard. Our old landlords don't allow dogs here because the deer are pretty much their pets. They have a photo album 3 inches thick with their deer pictures. It's pretty funny. Most of the people up here work at the National Laboratory and are math/science majors or they work for the county. The people are loony and very smart and quirky.

That's our newest update. Los Alamos, Where Discoveries are MADE! HAHA

oh, and my newest/secret favorite wierd place to visit is the Black Hole. They sell and collect lots of old machines/stuff from the laboratory and random places around here. It may be radioactive, but it definitely has to be the most interesting place ever! http://www.blackholesurplus.com/

Hearing those words at a close friends wedding has made me realize that our choice to be married and sealed in the temple was the right one for us. We do not part at death, but continue forward. Knowing that even past death we will be together is such a comfort and a blessing.

Grand Canyon 2009

Grand Canyon/Havasupai 2009
Me and Zane and our family & friends hiked down to Havasupai Falls and all the other waterfalls this month! It was awesome! Last year, a week after I got back from this trip, they had a big flood happen here and it changed a lot of the waterfalls and scenery. The flood had dried up one of the most beautiful waterfalls I have ever seen, but it created 2 new ones too. A lot of the surroundings was mostly dirt because the shrubbery hadn't grown back a whole lot. I can't wait to go again next summer to see how much more it has changed. I am glad we got to go. It is such a beautiful trip and if anyone wants to come next year, let us know. It is always fun to have a big group!

Me and Zane are headed to the Grand Canyon for a few nights with some family friends! I am so excited! I did this trip last summer and loved it! Zane couldn't go with me last year because he did his 50-miler with his family in wyoming.

This will be such a fun trip!

Zane is officially a Fire Fighter/EMT....
He graduated from the fire academy on the 12th of May and on Thursday he took his national EMT test and..... PASSED!

We are both so happy and excited to finally start seeing how our future is going to play out, but it does take a while for one to get hired on a department.. wish us luck!

With the new serger sewing machine I got for my bridal shower from my stepmom Liz, and with the sewing machine I got from my high school graduation from my mom I created these with patterns I made. This is fun for me! I don't like shopping for my own clothes because nothing ever fits right or is modest so I made my own!

So me and Zane signed the papers for our apartment and will start moving stuff in tomorrow!
I will be living there until we get married, 18 more days! So crazy how it is going by so fast.

I can't believe how fast this month has flown by, next week it will be Christmas!
It's so crazy, but that means it is closer to the wedding!
I have to get out the invitations sometime next month, it is so hard coming up with the invitations, i have so many ideas and i don't know what pictures to use either. I don't want to stress about it, but then i have so many other things to do...

Weddings are a lot of work!
Me and Zane registered at Bed Bath and Beyond on Monday night. we were both tired and a little grumpy after it was over, but we found a lot of good stuff! I don't expect to get any of it though, haha. Tomorrow we register at Target, or on friday. Its been pushed from yesterday to tomorrow or the next, I feel like I have so much to do and there is not enough time in the day to do it all! Frustrating!

Lately, I have been doing a lot of art projects and it has been fun, finally I have broke free from the rut I was in. I wasn't doing anything fun or creative like I usually do. I was inspired by a few things I saw at Dillards and finally got the guts to go to Micheals to find stuff to make something I wanted to do. It is amazing how much stuff Micheals has! I wish I could get a job there. I have been getting so many good ideas, and with the holidays coming up, and me being pretty low on cash-money, I have decided to make most of my presents this year. I have been finding things everywhere to make stuff, I have been digging through all my craft boxes and finding things I didn't even know I had. Its going to be a lot of fun, and maybe I can make a profit on some of the things I make. I will post pictures when I get a lot of it done.

Dec. 6, Zanes cousin, Zach, is getting married, and we are going to go up to the wedding in Wyoming. I am so excited to meet all his family. I love meeting new people, and I can't wait to have a bigger family. Family is the best! I love all the different personalities you get in a big family!

Me and Zane dressed up as pirates for halloween. I made both costumes for 8$, and it took about 2 hours of labor. It was fun! I love sewing!
We went to Cami and Bryans house and watched an old 1950's scary movie, I forgot what it was called.
Zane brought me lunch while I was working at the salon today! It was so nice of him! I love this guy, he takes good care of me!

sad story

So friday I was supposed to get my ring from the jeweler. I went to go pick it up because Zane was working and we had to get it before we left to Kentucky because I wanted it for engagement pictures. BUT... when they gave it to me it was set on the band completely wrong! I was so sad. They had put a head on the band when the diamond was supposed to be set in the band so it was flush with it. Sad sad day. But no big deal. They are going to return it to the goldsmith to be repaired. I miss my ring and will have to get used to it again when I get it!
Me, Zane and his mom are in Kentucky right now visiting his sister Rachael, her husband John and her cute little boy, Nathan. Rachael took some engagement pictures of us today and it was really fun! She is a good photographer!! She is doing a photo shoot with a newborn tomorrow morning! i am excited to see it!

WE went to the Louisville Zoo yesterday. That was really fun and interesting. I really liked the vampire bat exhibit. they are creepy little things.

Zane fixed John and Racheal's couch and had a fun time with that. He is pretty handy and useful! I got a good one!

OH and Kathy brought hersheys milk chocolate nuggets that i am addicted too and racheal made really delicious pumpkin chocolate cookies and I think I have eaten most of them... not good! I will probably gain 10lbs while I am here.

We ordered my ring this week! I am so excited for it. It's very simple, but its perfect!
Friday we took Zane's mom out for dinner and a movie for her birthday! It was a fun night. I am so glad I will have an great mother-in-law!

This week me and Zane went to Spencer Bates wedding reception. It was at a Harkins Theater. I thought it was going to be some lame boring 5 minute video with the usual pictures and it turned out to be so cute and funny! I loved that idea. Spencer married a very cute girl! I went with Zane to the reception and his mom was there with Stuarts mom! She is such a nice/fun person! Saturday we went to the Bates for pizza and cake for Matt’s b-day and his sister was practicing on Matt with putting an IV in-that was gross. Sunday I had a wedding show to do with another girl from my salon. We did models hair and makeup. got some really fun photos out of that because a photographer was there taking pics! it was cool.. So more pictures for my portfolio! I want to take a cake decorating/baking class soon! i have been wanting to do it for the longest time, and i think i will look for one! Liz wants to take it with me too! it will be fun!

Zane's 22nd Bday + Party

I threw Zane a surprise birthday party!
That was tough when I had to tell Zane I was working, but really I was shopping and getting everything ready for his party, and he had the whole day off! I am a terrible liar and this was hard for me to pull off! But it worked, my family helped me out so much. They set up everything at Kathy’s while me and him were at a lame movie. :). I invited as many people as I could think of! It was fun, we had cake, hot dogs, hamburger, fruit, and PRESENTS! wahoo. I love this guy and wish I could give him more!

Engagement! August 22, 2008

This day was amazing! Me and Zane got engaged.
We went on a night hike with two of our good friends, Devin & Millie, to the San Tan Mountains. This picture was the view we had, except it was better in person.
As soon as we got to the top, Zane said my name.... and told me he had a secret to tell me. I knew something was up! He got on his knee, and proposed. I could not stop smiling, plus Devin brought his camera and started filming it, which made me nervous!Zane was so nervous, I just wanted to grab him and hug him the whole time he was asking me too! It was perfect the was he proposed because I am not big on huge and extravagant things or being around a ton of people, and I love hiking, so it was just right! We have the video, and will post it later. The ring is beautiful! I am so excited to be married to him for eternity! I knew the minute I saw him at Chase’s Wedding reception that he was somebody special. He makes me so happy.

In church the other week, they had people talk on relationships in sacrament meeting, and the thing that the husband of the couple who spoke, asked us what was the thing that sparked your interest/love for your spouse? He said to hold on to it and remind yourself of that thing. In Zane, I look at him, and know that everything will be alright. He gives me strength that no one has ever done before. I have never realized that you can love someone so much until I met him. It really is amazing how much you can care about a person. I love that he strives to achieve his goals constantly, and how he makes me want to be a better person. He is truly one of a kind, and I can’t imagine what life would be like without him. I am so happy that I met him. I have a stronger testimony because of him and finishing the B of M together helped strengthen my testimony of this church. It really is true and I know that we were supposed to meet at this time in our lives for a reason, and if we had met sooner, I don’t think we would have grown together spiritually as much as we did these last few months.
God really has given me a wonderful man to love, and I am so grateful. I can’t wait to be a part of his family!
